The ITA is now looking for a committed and passionate full-time (40 hours per week) Testing Officer (Cycling) to join the Testing department.

Job description

The Testing Officer (Cycling) is responsible for planning and delivering a targeted and intelligence-led anti-doping testing programme for cycling. The role involves coordinating inputs from multiple functions – including Athlete Biological Passport (ABP), Intelligence & Investigations (I&I), and Data Analytics – to ensure testing activities are effective, risk-based, and fully compliant with World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) regulations. The Testing Officer plays a key role in protecting the integrity of cycling by ensuring testing strategies are data-driven, efficient, and aligned with organisational priorities.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and manage the testing programme on behalf of the UCI, in line with the ITA’s departmental strategy
  • Contribute towards the UCI’s testing program being run on budget and in compliance with the applicable regulations
  • Work closely with the different ITA departments on the testing strategy
  • Define and manage the UCI’s testing pool, and support athletes and team staff with their whereabouts responsibilities
  • Provide continual assessment and strategic insights to guide and refine the UCI’s Test Distribution Plan
  • Deliver the UCI’s Long-Term Storage program to ensure an effective selection of samples to be stored for future reanalysis
  • Implement the outreach program defined together with I&I and testing management to increase knowledge of the sport and create channels of communication between the ITA and relevant stakeholders from within the sport
  • Liaise with the Operations Testing Team to provide the necessary support for the coordination of Out-of-Competition and In-Competition testing
  • Liaise and collaborate with external stakeholders to improve the quality of the ITA’s testing programme, including National Anti-Doping Organisations, WADA-accredited Laboratories, and Sample Collection Agencies
  • Ensure all processes are run in accordance with the ITA’s ISO Quality Management System
  • If applicable, assist with the test planning and on-site anti-doping operations at Major Events and International competitions
  • Manage other projects or initiatives to improve the quality of the ITA’s anti-doping program as required by the ITA

 

Skills and experience required

  • Academic degree or equivalent
  • Academic/professional background in biology, chemistry, medicine, sports science, physiology, or pharmacology would be beneficial
  • Strong interest and/or participation in elite endurance sport, particularly cycling, with a sensitivity to sports ethics and the issue of drugs and doping in sport
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills, other languages are an asset
  • Experience in a similar role with strong anti-doping knowledge would be beneficial
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with strong attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise effectively
  • Capacity to work both independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of discretion and confidentiality
  • IT literate (MS Office, data management)
